THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. (WCTV) - Primary Care Southwest Georgia is partnering with Thomasville City Schools to open a school-based health center located at Harper Elementary School.

The health center will provide medical services for students, faculty and staff.

Just under $1 million for the center came from the Georgia Department of Education. For a little over a year, the district has been renovating the old Harper Elementary cafeteria to turn it into the health center.

Faye Johnson, director of student services, said one of the biggest barriers they heard from parents in the district was the lack of transportation to get their kids to a doctor’s appointment. Now, she says the new health center will make care more accessible.
