Authorities responded to a group home in Oakland Park nearly 40 times in the past year before a 14-year-old was stabbed to death by another teen at the house, new records show.

The family of 14-year-old Jordan Dowdy said he lived at the foster home on Northeast 3rd Avenue for about two months before he was stabbed to death on Aug. 25.

Another teen, 16-year-old Ruben Whitworth, is facing a second-degree murder charge in the stabbing and is being charged as an adult. Broward Sheriff's Office

Records show law enforcement went to the home nearly 40 times between October of 2024 and last month for various reasons.

Calls for service logs from the Broward County Sheriff's Office show that from July through August of this year, law enforcement went to the home eight different times.
