BETHLEHEM, N.H. (ABC22/FOX44) - New Hampshire's Department of Health and Human Services wrote Saturday that out of five people taken ill with the giardia parasite late last month, four said they drank water from the same natural spring.

Water runs from the spring to a bowl by Old Franconia Road south of Littleton. Authorities said anyone who drank from the spring should monitor themselves for an upset stomach and other symptoms of illness.

"Water from these natural sources might look clean, but it could still be unsafe. The safest option is to avoid drinking from natural springs and other water sources that may be untreated," said state epidemiologist Dr. Benjamin Chan.
