GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Hundreds of volunteers are focusing their efforts on one neighborhood in southeast Grand Rapids as part of a project called Bless the City.

All week, service projects from more than a dozen area nonprofits and 20 local churches will aim to improve home and business beautification, education and youth engagement and transportation in the Madison Square neighborhood.

“By the end of the week, I hope to see many homes and many lives impacted by the work that's being done,” Artie Lindsay, a pastor at Tabernacle Community Church, said.

He helped form the idea by bringing together other pastors from around Grand Rapids to envision what it would look like to bless the city.
