CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (KWWL) — Joe Mitchell has announced his candidacy for Iowa's Congressional District 2.
Mitchell served as regional director for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under the Trump administration and as chief of staff to the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
In a press release, Mitchell said he aims to support President Trump's agenda and prioritize the needs of hardworking Iowans. "I’m running for Congress because too many Iowans have been left behind by a broken political system that works for insiders and lobbyists, not for us," Mitchell said. He intends to tackle issues such as reckless spending, border security, and economic growth.
Living in Clear Lake, Mitchell operates a real estate development company focusing on workforce housing in rural Iowa.
