BLISS — The Gooding County Prosecutor’s office has identified the man who died Friday in an officer-involved shooting as an Indiana resident.
Blake Curtis Saffran, 35, died after he pulled out a firearm after Gooding County deputies responded Friday afternoon to a report of a vehicle being high-centered near Bliss, according to a news release from the office.
Saffran pulled out a weapon when a deputy went to check the vehicle. Both deputies discharged their service weapons, killing Saffran, a news release said.
Little information has been released about the shooting.
To avoid a conflict of interest, the Minidoka County Sheriff’s Office has been named the lead investigator. As is customary, the Magic Valley Critical Incident Task Force was deployed after the shooting.
