WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- In addition to mapping changes in Old Town, the city also tackled illegal dumping, loud noises and vehicles on Tuesday.
Illegal dumping
The City Council voted to increase the fines for illegal dumping. The minimum fine for a first offense was raised from $250 to $500, with the maximum fine of up to $1,000 or 12 months in jail.
"The ugly act of illegal dumping is an intentional act, and I just believe that $500 is a little low," District 1 City Council member Brandon Johnson said.
A second or additional offense would increase the fine minimum up to $1,000, with a $2,000 maximum and up to 12 months in jail. The ordinance passed 7-0.

The council also made changes to the noise ordinance. The ordinance now includes language to move noise violations
