A group of disability rights activists is urging Gov. Ned Lamont to set COVID-19 vaccine guidelines to broaden access beyond a recent decision by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA.

Lamont (D-Connecticut) indicated Monday his office is already working on an executive order to do just that.

“People ought to have the choice, they ought to be able to get the COVID vaccine at their local pharmacy,” Lamont said after an unrelated event in Canton.

The move would follow the lead of Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey, who last week required insurance companies to continue to cover COVID vaccines and took steps to ensure the shots are widely available in pharmacies.
