BLUFFTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Bluffton Police Department has arrested and charged a man in connection with a shooting during a welfare check on Sept. 3.

Malik Geoffrey Winston, 19, of Bluffton, is charged with attempted murder, armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to Bluffton town spokesperson Eydie Moody.

Police responded to a health welfare check at the 1200 block of May River Road at 8:05 p.m. when they located a person reportedly passed out in a vehicle with the door partially open.

Upon arrival, they were able to determine that the victim had sustained a gunshot wound in their upper torso.
