Gov. Kevin Stitt said Monday that Tulsans can expect to see Oklahoma Highway Patrol officers in the city for a while as part of Operation SAFE, an initiative launched by the state last week to clear the homeless from highway underpasses, rights of way and other state-owned properties.

“We’ll be back. There are 11 more sites they’re clearing this week,” Stitt said in an interview with the Tulsa World. “They should be done this week, but they’ll come back to make sure; otherwise, the homeless will just come right back to that same spot. So we’re going to go back, and we’re going to enforce it again and again.
