Australia Post plans to resume all shipping to the United States within weeks. The national delivery service has found a way to comply with new U.S. tariff regulations. Last month, Australia Post made the decision to halt deliveries of many items to the U.S. This action was taken in response to the Trump administration's introduction of tariffs on low-value parcels entering the country.
Australia Post was among several global postal carriers affected by the sudden changes. Many of these carriers lacked the systems necessary to collect and distribute the new taxes on imported goods. However, Australia Post has now developed a solution and aims to restart all shipping by September 25.
"Along with more than 190 other postal providers internationally, we've been caught in a fast-moving situation not of our making," said Gary Starr, an executive at Australia Post. He emphasized the impact on customers who rely on the postal service to export goods to the U.S.
Starr added, "The real impact has been on our customers who export their goods to the U.S. accessing our cost-efficient postal service, so we've been working around the clock to find a solution."
With the resumption of services, Australia Post hopes to restore its customers' access to the U.S. market and alleviate the disruptions caused by the tariff changes.
