It has been four days since a cyberattack hit the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the fallout is still being felt across New Orleans’ criminal justice system. Advertisement

The public website known as DocketMaster, used by attorneys, families, and the media to track cases, remains offline, and defense attorneys say some inmates have been held for hours even after posting bond.

Defense attorney Bobby Hjortsberg says the system outage is disrupting basic rights.

“Yeah, I had clients that posted bond that were still not let out of jail until almost a day after they posted the bond, which is just completely unacceptable,” Hjortsberg said. “Once someone is released from jail, they should be released immediately, which is how it happens in just about every parish that I’v
