SALT LAKE CITY — USA Climbing has submitted new plans to Salt Lake City with a special request to allow for a taller building.

The building has been planned as the future headquarters and national training center for Olympic athletes.

According to BuildingSaltLake , the three-story building has no specified height, but the current restriction is that it is not to be over 75 feet.

The building features indoor and outdoor climbing walls, rooms for physical therapy and training, office space and a section for a cafe and commercial space.

USA Climbing said it plans to operate as a commercial climbing gym during the off-season, although other local gyms have spoken out against those plans due to concerns that they could be driven out of business.
