The injury bug bit the San Francisco 49ers at their most important position.

Quarterback Brock Purdy sustained shoulder and toe injuries in the 49ers’ come-from-behind win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1 according to head coach Kyle Shanahan who spoke to reporters on a conference call Monday. Shanahan said Purdy may not practice leading up to the team’s Week 2 showdown with the New Orleans Saints, and his availability for Week 2 is up in the air.

If Purdy can’t play, Mac Jones would be the team’s starting QB with practice squad signal caller Adrian Martinez likely up as the backup.

Jones signed a two-year deal with San Francisco this offseason. He played 27 preseason snaps and completed 73.9 percent of his 23 throws for 209 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. In 52 games
