A significant part of the process of getting someone lifesaving blood is facing a serious shortage.
The time it takes to get a person blood in an emergency situation could be the difference between life and death. According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood or platelets. And, now, the organization that helps so many is asking for your help. The Red Cross has a critical need for volunteer drivers. They need people to get blood to the people who need it in an emergency.
Annette Rowland is the communications director for the American Red Cross in Alabama. But Monday, she volunteered, because they don't have enough volunteers for a critical task. Rowland said, “It takes a very special person that has that time and has the compas
