ELY, Minn. — A 70-year-old man from Colorado was rescued Sunday after injuring his leg in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

The Minnesota State Patrol said a distress call was made about a report of a person with a possible broken leg near the Stuart River Portage, near Ely. The Minnesota Air Rescue Team, which combines members of the state patrol and the St. Paul Police Department. joined the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office Rescue Squad, the Morse Township Fire Department and the Life Link Helicopter Service to reach the injured man and fly him to Duluth.

Officials say the injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
