BEMIDJI – When Liz Peterson lost a few games in her first No. 1 singles set against Park Rapids on Monday, Bemidji High School girls tennis head coach Kyle Fodness went over to talk about making adjustments.

The only thing is, Fodness didn’t have to say anything.

“She (just) knew them,” he said, "and she just locked in and played really well.”

Peterson instinctively knew she had to change something, which eventually led to her winning her match 6-2, 6-0, part of the Lumberjacks’ 6-1 win over Park Rapids on Monday at the BHS tennis courts.

“I've always just been told if you are down, just switch up your game,” Peterson said. “I might as well try something different because you can't just play the same game, because if it doesn't work for you all the time, it's no good.”
