FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man has been airlifted to the hospital after being stabbed multiple times by one of his family members in Fresno County.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office says it received a call of a stabbing at a San Joaquin home near the intersection of Annabella Avenue and 4th Street at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

When deputies arrived, they found a man in his 50s suffering from severe stab wounds.

He was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where he is in critical condition.

Investigators later learned the man was attacked by a family member and say he fled the scene before they arrived.

Deputies say they are working to find and arrest the suspect.
