IRONDALE, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Irondale Mayor James D. Stewart Jr. has presented a proclamation to honor an 8-year-old who died from drowning.
Greyson E. Maiden was found unresponsive in a pool on Saturday, Aug. 31 according to authorities in Hoover .
Life-saving measures were attempted but unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Hoover Police say Maiden’s death is being investigated as a tragic accident.
On Saturday, Sept. 6, Stewart issued a “Proclamation Honoring the Life and Legacy of Greyson E. Maiden.”
The proclamation describes Greyson as a “beloved son, friend, and teammate.”
It also described his passing as a personal loss for Stewart, and the entire Irondale community, due to him being one of the mayor’s extended family members, and playing for Irondale’s
