INDIANAPOLIS — Police at IU Indianapolis have issued an alert after an aggravated assault was reported in a campus parking lot.

In an alert marked as "severe" on the school's website at 11:38 p.m., police say they have confirmed the assault in Lot 401, which is near West 14th Street and Indiana Avenue on the west side of campus.

IMPD officers were also dispatched to the scene.

"Continue to avoid the area. If you are not in the area, stay away. Follow instructions from university officials or local authorities," the alert read.

About 20 minutes later, police reported there was no ongoing threat or danger in the area.

An IU Police spokesperson said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident that resulted in a non-life-threatening injury.
