MACON, Ga. — Georgia families hoping to receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine will have to wait a little longer, as the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) continues to await final recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

This protocol, in place since the first COVID-19 vaccines became available in late 2020, means health departments across the state do not currently have the new 2025-2026 vaccine in stock.

The CDC has also urged providers to discontinue use of the 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine and destroy any unused product to minimize the risk of vaccination errors.
