MACON, Ga. — On Monday, the hopes of turning a vacant storefront in Lizella into a vape shop went up in smoke after planning and zoning denied the proposal.
Residents who live close to the proposed site, like Bernie Howard, say they're not upset by this decision.
Howard says he's been in Lizella for almost 20 years, and he heard about the proposed vape shop from other neighbors.
"I know about it because I go up to the store across the street sometimes to get gas and a few people I run into over there they're the ones that actually told me it was gonna be a a smoke shop," Howard said.
Howard says he wasn't against the vape shop, but he and several neighbors said they'd rather have a different kind of business at the corner of Bethel Church and Fulton Mill Road.
