A low-pressure system moving into Southern California will bring cooler temperatures, gusty winds and a deepening marine layer across San Diego County this week, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will trend several degrees below normal through midweek, with the coolest day expected Thursday, the NWS said.

Highs Tuesday are forecast to reach 75 near the coast, 75 to 78 inland, 78 to 83 in the western valleys, 74 to 83 in the mountains and 96 to 101 in the deserts.

The system is also expected to boost winds in the afternoons and evenings, especially in the mountains and deserts, where gusts could reach 45 to 55 mph in wind-prone passes and canyons. Drivers along parts of Interstate 8 should prepare for headwinds.
