Auburn football could be down two of its running backs against South Alabama, including arguably its top player.
Head coach Hugh Freeze said Damari Alston is a game time decision for this week’s game after missing Week 2 with a shoulder injury. Along with Alston’s status being in question, Durell Robinson is now expected to miss time after suffering what Freeze called a “freak injury” to his thigh against Ball State.
With two of the Tigers’ top three options potentially out this week, more players could play and the ones who did could see more carries.
That will likely start with Jeremiah Cobb, who started in Alston’s place against Ball State and rushed for a career-high 121 yards. That included touchdown runs of 46 and 45 yards, helping lead the Tigers to a 42-3 win.
