BLOOMINGTON ( 25News Now ) - A development firm can move ahead with a multi-million-dollar restoration of a pair of historic, but unused buildings in Downtown Bloomington with the city government’s help.

Without discussion, the city council Monday night unanimously signed off on a development agreement to reimburse FMB Holdings Inc. with money from tax increment financing for the next 23 years.

The city will pay to the firm so-called TIF dollars, which accumulate when a development produces higher property values.

FMB Holdings is looking to create commercial space on the lower floor, and four-to-six apartments in buildings located in the 200 block of North Center Street, on the west side of the Old Courthouse Square. A CVS pharmacy located there closed down several years ago, and th
