AFL icon Gary Ablett Jnr believes the synergy of Gold Coast’s midfield can propel the finals rookies all the way.

The inaugural Suns marquee man has declared the team capable of winning the premiership in their first finals campaign.

All-Australians Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson were prolific in the weekend’s one-point final defeat of Fremantle in Perth , the club’s first finals game in their 15th season.

Singling out their next-generation midfield, two-time Brownlow Medal and premiership-winner Ablett is confident the Suns’ style will continue to stack up in Saturday’s semi-final against Brisbane.

“At their best they can beat anyone ... I think they’re good enough to win the premiership,” Ablett told reporters while touring his old Carrara headquarters with the premiership cup
