LIBERTY — A Newton Falls man whom Liberty police arrested in response to an early morning report of a crash made a court appearance Monday.

David Hunt, 26, pleaded not guilty to two charges of OVI, open container and operation without reasonable control in Girard Municipal Court.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched to Taylor Avenue after dispatchers informed officers that a caller heard a vehicle traveling northbound on the road at a “high rate of speed” — crashing into the cul-de-sac’s woods. While en route, dispatchers reported that the driver was attempting to back out the vehicle.

The report states dispatchers told officers the man became argumentative with the caller and began running southbound on Taylor Avenue toward Churchill Road.
