The grieving mother of a 12-year-old allegedly brutally murdered by a gang has remembered her son as “an intelligent and warm-hearted child”.
Chol Achiek and his friend Dau Akueng, 15, were walking home from a basketball game when they were ambushed by a group of up to eight people in Cobblebank about 8pm on Saturday.

The pair were stabbed to death, with a third friend they were walking managing to escape.
Chol’s mother Ayen Lual said the loss of her son has left a hole in the family that can never be filled.
She said Chol was a “truly a special person with so much life ahead of him”.
“(He) was an intelligent and warm-hearted child who could light up the room with his smile and loving nature,” Lual wrote in a fun
