Following a fatal shooting in Brunswick County, a man charged in connection with the death had his first appearance in court.

Jonathan Jayden Babson-Hill, 21, appeared in a Brunswick County court on Sept. 8 for a first-degree murder charge in connection with a fatal shooting in Ash, an unincorporated community.

Babson-Hill will continue to be held without bond, per the judge's decision.

On the morning of Sept. 5, a 20-year-old man was killed in a shooting on Vereen Road in Ash, according to a post on the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

The victim, later identified as Victor Scott Rojo, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Babson-Hill is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Rojo.
