A new supermarket due to open in Huntingdon has been granted a 24-hour alcohol licence after a hearing this week (September 8). The new Food Warehouse store is due to open at the Stukeley Road Retail Park.
Concerns had been raised that giving the shop permission to sell alcohol for nearly 24 hours a day could lead to antisocial behaviour in the area.
However, a representative of the company argued there was no evidence that this would be the case. They highlighted that police had not raised any concerns about the plans.
The Food Warehouse is part of Iceland Foods Group. It applied to Huntingdonshire District Council for a licence to sell alcohol at the new supermarket between midnight and 11.59pm from Monday to Sunday.
