A three-week-old baby who sustained multiple injuries at the hands of his father has made a recovery doctors say is “nothing short of a miracle,” court heard Monday.
The St. Catharines infant was rushed to hospital on Christmas Day 2023 where he was diagnosed with brain and retinal hemorrhages and a clavicle fracture.
“Initially, (the victim’s) diagnosis was grim. However, over the last 18 months he has made a remarkable recovery that doctors have described as ‘nothing short of a miracle,’” Crown attorney Michal Sokolski said in Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines.
“He continues to recover and is progressing well as compared to developmental milestones for children his age.”
The child’s father, who cannot be named in order to protect the identity of the victim, pleaded guilty Mo
