RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- All United States and Virginia flags have been ordered to be flown at half-staff on Tuesday.

Gov. Glenn Youngkin has ordered all United States and Virginia flags to be flown at half-staff on Tuesday, Sept. 9 in memory and respect of the Honorable John Alfred Cox, a former member of the Virginia House of Delegates.

According to the Governor's Office, Cox faithfully represented the 55th District from 2010 to 2014 and dedicated his life to serving his community and the Commonwealth.

Flags on state and local buildings in Virginia are to be lowered at sunrise on Tuesday and remain at half-staff until sunset that day.
