AUBURN, Ala. (WIAT) -- Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer will lead the Auburn homecoming parade on September 12.
The parade, which will begin at 6:00 p.m. in downtown Auburn, will be followed by a pep rally on Samford Lawn and live music by Nashville Nation.
Spencer, who is originally from Montgomery, graduated from Auburn in 1994 with a bachelor's degree in English. She has since starred in over 100 movies, and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "The Help." Additionally, Spencer was also Academy Award nominated for her roles in "Hidden Figures" and "The Shape of Water."

Homecoming continues the following day when Auburn takes on South Alabama at 11:45 a.m. in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
