DOWNEAST, Maine (WABI) - Parents in Downeast Maine will have to find an alternative solution for maternal and mental care.
Downeast Community Partners will end its Maternal and Child Health Program on September 30th.
They say this move was due to the state of Maine’s decision to not continue contracts for maternal and child health nursing services, beyond that offered by the state’s public health nurses, in all but Maine’s five southernmost counties.
DCP stresses the decision to end these services is not connected its recently announced partnership with the Aroostook County Action Program.
Maternal and child health nursing has been funded at DCP through a state contract for the past 8 years.
