ST. LOUIS - The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is breaking ground Tuesday morning on a major project along Route 100, also known as Manchester Road.
The groundbreaking ceremony is set to take place at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning near downtown St. Louis, on Chouteau at Ninth Street, across from the Purina building. The new project will run from the location along Manchester Road to the city limits of Maplewood, aiming to improve safety, resurface the roadway, and include the addition of protected bike lanes.
MODOT has stated that this will be the first project on a state-maintained route to include protected bike lanes. The bike lanes will connect to existing cycle tracks established by the City of St. Louis.
To create these lanes, MODOT will install six-inch curb islands betwe
