GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Police have released the name of the man who was shot and killed on Grand Rapids' southeast side over the Labor Day holiday weekend.
The Grand Rapids Police Department identified him as 41-year-old Marcus Jerome Jones. His death was ruled a homicide, GRPD said.
The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Sept. 2 on Diamond Avenue SE near Sigsbee Street SE. Officers patrolling the area heard the shots, GRPD Chief Eric Winstrom previously told News 8.
First responders found Jones with “numerous” bullet wounds, Winstrom said. They tried to save his life, but he died on scene.
No suspect information has been released. Detectives continue to investigate.
