TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WVUE) - More than a week after testing the Tangipahoa River, the Environmental Protection Agency has not released any results but says it plans to do so by the end of the week.
The EPA’s website on the Smitty’s Supply explosion reports the agency tested the river at multiple locations on August 29 “to assess potential impacts from the release of materials downstream.”
The plant’s August 22 explosion rained ash across the community, and oily compounds and chemicals were seen making their way into the river.
On Monday (September 8), the EPA sent a statement reading in part:
