The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Sept. 5 that the agency and public health officials in multiple states are investigating a salmonella outbreak connected to home delivery meals made by Metabolic Meals.
There have been 16 cases of reported illnesses across 10 states, per the CDC : California, Missouri, Minnesota, Georgia, Washington, Texas, Arkansas, Illinois, Wisconsin and Connecticut. Seven hospitalizations and no deaths have been reported.
Salmonella is a bacterial foodborne illness that can manifest itself with various gastrointestinal symptoms and a fever.
While the CDC has advised people not to consume Metabolic Meals products, no recall has been issued.
