Two teenagers are being accused by police of hitting two Springfield police cruisers and another parked car with a stolen car.
At about 9:40 a.m. on Monday, Springfield Police detectives saw a stolen Hyundai in the area of Dickinson Street and Beaumont Street. It had been reported stolen out of Enfield, Connecticut.
Officers saw two people sleeping inside the car and attempted to wake them up. The driver, later identified by police as 19-year-old Awad Anter, of Springfield, refused to open the door and placed the car into reverse hitting a cruiser as several officers were attempting to open the vehicle’s doors, police said. Anter then drove forward, hitting another cruiser before reversing, nearly hitting several officers, police said.
