SCHERERVILLE — One person was taken into custody late Monday night after shots were reportedly fired during a chase and crash involving two vehicles - one reportedly stolen in Chicago, according to Schererville police.

Police said they were called out around 11:27 p.m. Monday to Indianapolis Boulevard and Woodhollow Drive in response to a report of two vehicles chasing and crashing into each other.

"Officers were then advised that shots were fired," police said.

A Schererville police officer in the area took one person into custody and another was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

"Officers were also advised that one of the vehicles in this incident was just reported stolen from Chicago," according to police.
