Abbey Garcia responded when yoga called to her. A teacher by vocation and at heart, she had a shift after becoming a mother.
“I'm originally from Michigan, and after I graduated college I moved to Asheville, North Carolina, and lived there for about eight years,” she says. “I was a high school teacher. I got married, had my first baby and basically we moved a little bit south, down the mountain and came to this area. We've been here now for 11 years.”
After moving to the Upstate, Garcia had a second child. Through it all, she had been practicing yoga on and off, but began to focus on it more seriously as her life and body changed with motherhood.
“I stopped teaching high school,” she says. “I just knew that that was not what I needed to be doing anymore.”
