A woman has died after being found unconscious in a Redcar street. Paramedics were called at around 9.30am on Tuesday, September 9, after a woman in her 40s was found unconscious in the street on Lord Street, near the corner of St Alfred Street, in Redcar.

The woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and her death is currently being treated as unexplained, Cleveland Police has confirmed. The road, between Muriel Street to Charlotte Street, was cordoned off for a number of hours as a forensic team in white hazmat suits carried out inquiries at the scene.

A force spokesperson said: "Around 9:40am today, ambulance service colleagues contacted Cleveland Police regarding a woman in her forties who was found unconscious in the street on Lord St/Alfred St, Redcar.
