NEW YORK (WCAX) - A federal appeals court has tossed a ban preventing a Vermont Christian school from participating in sports competitions.

The Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York on Tuesday granted an injunction allowing Mid-Vermont Christian School to be reinstated into the Vermont Principals’ Association.

The religious school in Quechee forfeited a basketball game back in 2023 because a transgender student was playing on the opposing team. The Vermont Principals’ Association then banned the school from competing in future activities, saying that the school violated the state’s discrimination policies.
