LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — Several travel trailers parked at a popular Lake Murray campground were destroyed by an early morning fire Tuesday, September 9.

Lexington County Fire Service responded to a call around 2 a.m. regarding a vehicle fire at Acapulco Campground, 960 Rock N Creek Rd. Arriving at the scene, firefighters observed three travel trailers, one vehicle, and a shed on fire. Crews were able to contain the blaze but confirmed a total of six travel trailers were completely destroyed.

Two individuals were displaced by the fire, one of those individuals was airlifted to the Augusta Burn Center for treatment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Lexington County Fire Service, Lexington County Sheriff's Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explos
