BBC director-general Tim Davie has defended a casting decision on Strictly Come Dancing 2025 as he spoke to MPs from the Culture, Media and Sport committee.

The line-up for the latest edition of the celebrity dancing competition was announced last month, with the likes of Love Island winner Dani Dyer-Bowen, former footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and CBBC actress Ellie Goldstein taking part.

Also revealed last month to be learning the art of dance in the series fronted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman is former Apprentice contestant Thomas Skinne r.

The social media star has drawn strong criticism for posts on X, previously known as Twitter , saying it is ‘not far-right’ to be ‘flying your flag and loving your country’.
