The 49-year-old man who appeared at a police scene last week and attempted to impersonate a police officer was a security guard contracted by a private company to work at the Salvation Army, who had previously been arrested in a SWAT standoff for a bomb threat in North Carolina, according to court documents filed after his arrest.

Bremerton police arrested Michael Scaletta-Teates of Lacey on Sept. 5 for impersonating a law enforcement officer after he showed up the evening before, a Thursday, when officers responded to a small fire that had been set around 6:30 p.m. in a parking lot off Sixth Street and Warren Avenue.
