ROUSES POINT, N.Y. (WCAX) - Millions of dollars in federal funding to improve border security is headed to a port of entry in our region.
Tuesday, the U.S. General Services Administration announced $47.7 million in funding for construction at the border crossing in Rouses Point, New York .
The project will replace the existing port and eventually become one of the country’s few rail passenger border crossings.
Officials say it will improve border security and inspection operations.
Authorities say construction will start this fall and wrap up in late 2027.
