SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - On Sunday, September 7, a man called Animal Control to report that he had been bitten by one of his pet African Forest Cobras.

Animal Control responded to the apartment at West 85th Street and South Minnesota Avenue in Sioux Falls and was made aware that two African Forest Cobras were loose in the man’s bedroom, where there was also an Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake in a glass enclosure.

They were able to safely remove the snakes from the apartment and send them to be secured at Reptile Gardens in Rapid City.

The cobras were being stored in totes, and it was determined that one of the totes was knocked over, the man stepped on the cobra, and the cobra bit him.

The man was sent to the hospital for medical treatment, and there are currently no updat
