SYRACUSE, New York (WWNY) - A convicted sex offender from Potsdam faces decades in prison after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 51-year-old Richard LaPage pleaded guilty to distribution, receipt and possession of child pornography.

Prosecutors say LaPage admitted that between December 2023 and October 2024, he used social networking apps to send and receive child pornography files.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, LaPage had more than 150 child pornography images and videos on his electronic devices.

Officials said LaPage was convicted in April 2010 of attempted criminal sexual act, which criminalizes an adult’s attempt to engage in sexual contact with a child under the age of 13.
