PORTLAND, Maine — It could be more challenging for Mainers to get their COVID-19 vaccinations this fall, but the state is trying to find ways to make them more accessible.
The FDA approved a new round of COVID vaccines at the end of August but also restricted who’s eligible to get them.
The latest vaccines are approved for those over 65 and people with a health condition that could put them at t higher risk for COVID.
There’s a long list of these conditions from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, including heart disease, asthma, diabetes, pregnancy, and mental health conditions.
Right now, in Maine, anyone who wants a COVID shot must get a prescription for it.
